There are a lot of goatheads in my yard. It’s common to track them in the house and step on them when walking around barefoot. Stepping on a thorn hurts! Not only is it annoying, it’s almost impossible to avoid, no matter how much the house is swept.
In this world there is both good and evil. It is all mixed together. We have good days and bad days, but when we trust in the Lord, we have more good days than bad ones because He helps us see what is right rather than focus on what is going wrong. Amen.
And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. – 2 Corinthians 12:7-8
How often do we pray for the same thing three times, only to have it persist? Sometimes God puts thorns in our lives for a reason, so we will learn something from having them present.
Thorns protect roses, so thorns, although pointy and hurtful, serve a purpose.
Sometimes we have to experience a little discomfort to learn to be more grateful for what we have.
To truly rely on God and stop worrying, we have to trust that everything in our lives is there for a reason. Amen.
