Prayer Journal: Day 251

Day 251

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. – Proverbs 22:6 NIV

Motherhood is full of paradoxes: fear and triumph, joy and sorrow. We do our best as parents, but God is the ultimate guardian of our children. We can teach our children about Him, but we can’t force them to accept Him.

Our Heavenly Father takes joy when we acknowledge Him.

It is so sweet to hear my son say, “I love you, mom.” For years, I focused on my academic achievements and work. I didn’t necessarily picture what joy a child might bring to my life, but my son is more important than any degree or award I could achieve. He loves me because I am his mom. I pray that when he grows up, he will always love the Lord and will remember the values that my husband and I taught him.

Our Lord always gives us a choice. He loves us beyond comprehension. Amen.

Day 241

Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. – John 12:24 NIV

Jesus spoke to people in parables because He knew that if He used storytelling to illustrate His points, people would relate to the message.

People never expected to receive a savior who would die for their sins. They were expecting a king. Instead, Jesus came to them in a humble state.

A plant, when it buds, has a lot of potential. We don’t always see it blossom because a snow or freeze might come before it has a chance to bloom.

Jesus gently and carefully nurtures our faith as we grow. As we gain strength, we can share His love with more confidence. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 85

Day 85

Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. – Ephesians 5:19-20

The Lord asks us to share our faith with others. I often text Bible verses or share Scriptures to social media.

In years past, I was too shy to share my faith. I figured that leading by example was enough, but the more I see God working in my life, the more I want to share the good news! Our God is an awesome God! I am thankful for the many blessings He has given me. He has gotten me through hard times. He restores my soul. He guides me and counsels me. I can always count on Him.

When I play hymns on the piano, I praise Him. His love endures forever. I am blessed to be able to play the piano. Not everyone has parents who gave them allowance for piano lessons.

During a visit to Italy a few years ago, I had an interesting conversation with a cab driver. I had mentioned to him that I could play classical piano. He said that I was a lucky girl. I hadn’t realized how lucky I was to have studied music and to have learned to play an instrument, because not everyone can afford to. It is a gift I am thankful for.

It’s my hope that when I play praise songs and post the videos to YouTube, people will be able to hear God’s voice through the music. Butterflies and stage fright aside, it makes me happy when I can praise God through music and share with others. Amen.
