Prayer Journal: Day 363

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. – Isaiah 40:30‭-‬31 NIV

God has the solution to energy crashes. When we are tired, we can place our hope in the Lord, and He will renew our strength. He can give us the endurance of marathon runners.

He also helps us pace ourselves, whether we are walking or running, working or resting. He knows when we feel burnt out, and He gave us the Sabbath to restore ourselves.

We look forward to the Sabbath because it allows us to rest and enjoy our relationship with the Lord. We love Him and want to follow His commandments, so we honor the Sabbath day, which He said to keep holy.

The next day we will have another day to work, and we can go forward with renewed energy and with the Lord’s encouragement. He can give us just the right amount of energy to get through each day, and then some. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 351

Day 351

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. – Isaiah 26:3 NIV

It is natural for the mind to wander. When we focus our attention on the Lord and something distracts us, it is perfectly okay to notice that we were gone and return out thoughts back to Jesus.  He always helps and protects us when we believe and ask Him for assistance.

No request is too small for Him. He cares about everything about us.
He never gets tired. He never runs out of energy.

The Lord always wants to hear from us. It pleases Him when we put Him at the center of our attention.
Focusing on the Lord may mean exercising boundaries.

We may feel uncomfortable telling people that we reserve a day for rest and worship, but that day of restoration is important. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 286

Day 286

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” – Exodus 33:14 NIV

When we are tired, we need to rest. The Lord knows that we need a day off to restore our minds, bodies, and spirits. This Sabbath rest is essential, not only to honor our relationship with God, but also because we are human and it is very easy to fall when the devil trips us up.

The devil looks for every opportunity to attack us. He wants us to feel angry, frustrated, and resentful rather than loving, kind, and patient. When we feel ourselves slipping, we need to call out to the Lord to help us. His Presence is with us and in us. He is never far away. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 265

Day 265

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us. – 1 John 4:11‭-‬12 NIV

When we take a day to rest and honor God, the busy pace of our lives slows down. We can savor our time with our friends and family. God’s love is reflected in our behavior.

When we catch ourselves saying or thinking something that isn’t kind, we can ask ourselves what Jesus would say or think.

He cares about us, and He left us with the Holy Spirit to guide and protect us. We may have moments that we struggle with, but those moments pass. We can be thankful that God is always there for us, showing us an example of what love is. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 112

Day 112

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. – Psalm 62:1

It’s a glorious thing that the Lord can give us rest for our souls when we are weary.

I often crash land into the Sabbath. By the end of the week, I really need to rest, and God knows I need to restore my spirit. He knows I need to turn my eyes upon Him so that I can refocus my energy on my work during the week to come.

No other person can bring rest and salvation the way Jesus Christ can. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He cares about us deeply and is present in our lives.

We need to practice listening to Him and focusing on the everlasting life He offers us. Then the things of Earth can grow dim. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 21

Day 21

If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give over to His commandments and keep His statutes, I will put none of the disasters on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you. – Exodus 15:26

The Lord tells us not to buy or sell on the Sabbath. Why? Is it so we devote one day only to Him?

We are so good at breaking and forgetting His commandments, and yet, we pray for protection after making the wrong choices. We need to pray for forgiveness.

We deserve to rest on the Sabbath so that we can restore our lives both spiritually and physically. Each day is a new day, a new opportunity to start over.
