The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. – Psalms 18:2 NIV
We need the Lord as our fortress to block out the annoyances of the world. When we let ourselves get frustrated by other people’s actions, we step outside of the fortress and forget that the Lord can shield us from such miseries.
We become resentful when we become vulnerable to attack or criticism, and often during those moments of frustration, we forget how powerful our God is to help us let go of the things that don’t matter.
He can refocus our thoughts on His will for us. He teaches us during the midst of our frustrations, and we come out of them slightly wiser if we are willing to surrender our burdens to Jesus. He saved us for a reason, and everything we experience He knows before it happens. He knows how we will react before we even begin to reply. He will give us the right words to say the next time if we pause and ask Him to inspire our communications. Amen.
Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. – Psalms 62:8 NIV
Sometimes we can be hard on ourselves. Nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes, even if we were trying our best.
The Lord is with us no matter what. He is our hiding place. We are safe with Him.
We can share with Him all the burdens we are carrying and all the desires of our hearts. He hears all our requests, and He is never too busy to respond. We sometimes have to be patient, because He answers us in ways we cannot always anticipate. Amen.
Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah – Psalm 62:8 NKJV
Trusting in God means letting go of worry. It is so easy to worry about our health, our finances, and our future, but God is in control, and we can trust Him with every detail of our lives in perfect peace.
When we pour out our hearts before the Lord, we share with Him our inner thoughts, challenges, and heartaches. Sometimes the stress is imagined, and other times it is real. God listens to everything and helps us put our agendas in perspective.
God created us to live a life of purpose. Our existence is not meaningless. Our creation was not a fluke. There is a design and a beauty to everything God creates, and we are created in His image. Amen.
