Prayer Journal: Day 333

Day 333

Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. – Romans 8:17 NIV

Children’s emotions easily change from one moment to another. One second they are laughing and the next they are crying. But to see a child at play is a joy.

Do we as adults feel joy as easily knowing that we are children of God and co-heirs with Jesus? Do we always rejoice in our eternal inheritance? If not, it’s because we are distracted. The devil likes to throw whatever he can at us to discourage us, but make no mistake, the Lord has already won the battle. We can’t let things sap us of joy; we are entitled to happiness and peace. Each day has a little bit of joy. It’s our job to see it. Amen.

Day 332

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. – Psalms 100:4 NIV

The Lord asks us to praise Him and in everything give thanks, no matter how difficult the situation may seem to us at the time.

Jesus sees the big picture. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Nothing surprises Him.

When we find ourselves grumbling and complaining, we must remember how privileged we are to be the children of God. We are truly blessed, and thankfulness could become our natural state. We can remember to thank Him in every situation, because our God is greater than any problem. Amen.

Day 331

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. – Jeremiah 29:12 NIV

The Lord hears our prayers. He is our best friend. He is our Counselor. He is our Savior.

When we are unsure what the future holds,  we simply need to pause and ask Him for guidance. Sometimes the answer comes right away. Other times we need to take action in the right direction before we begin to understand where He is leading us.

The Lord does not make mistakes. He will never lead us down the wrong path. He is here for us always. Amen.

Day 330

The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. – Zephaniah 3:17 NIV

Sometimes I wonder after a long period of illness if God was punishing me for something I had unknowingly done wrong. But other times, I think that maybe I did nothing wrong, and the hardships I experienced were ways of teaching me wisdom and appreciation for good health, a good job, and a supportive family.

The Lord delights in us. He wants to see us happy and successful. He wants us to live a righteous life according to His purpose. We sometimes don’t understand why bad things happen, but we can have faith that one day He will reveal everything to us. Amen.

Day 329

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. – 2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV

God always gives us what we need,  but not necessarily what we want. What we want isn’t always what is best for us.

Because the Lord is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, He can see what is in our future.

He blesses us abundantly, more than we can ask or think. When life is not going according to plan, we can stop and ask God to show us what He has in mind for us. Amen.

Day 328

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10 NIV

When we are afraid because the future feels uncertain, we can remember that the Lord sees the big picture. He knows what is ahead of us and can stear us away from any danger.

When the Lord holds our hands, our anxiety can melt away. He is with us, no matter what. He can clearly see the right path for us ahead. We can trust Him and know that everything will be alright. Amen.

Day 326

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. – 1 Peter 1:3 NKJV

In this life we will have trouble, but the Lord asks us not to be afraid. He has overcome the world, and gives us salvation through Jesus Christ. If we think our problems are too big, we can remind ourselves that God is more powerful than anything causing our problems.

He can give us strength to endure any hardship, be it illness, job changes, or a move. The Lord gives us the Holy Spirit to be our Counselor and Helper. He will never leave us nor forsake us, no matter what we may be going through. Amen.

Day 325

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. – 1 Corinthians 13:4 NIV

Self love includes being patient and kind to ourselves. We sometimes focus so much on taking care of others that we forget to take care of ourselves. Self care is a form of self love.

Sometimes we have to honor that we are out of energy by the end of the day and need to take something off our schedule. The Lord understands that our energy is finite, which means that we need to say “no” to some things.

We take pride in our productivity, but there is a time to work and a time to rest. Even God rested on the seventh day after creating humanity. The Lord rested and declared His work good. We can rest and restore ourselves, too. Amen.

Day 324

I cling to you; your right hand upholds me. – Psalms 63:8 NIV

When I take my three-year-old boy to the park, he sometimes clings to the side of the slide so that he can control how fast he goes down.

Do we cling to the Lord? Do we ask Him for help before defaulting to worry?

Honestly, I don’t know if I will ever stop worrying, especially because I am a mom now. But I take comfort knowing that God is strong and fully capable of handling all our worries. Amen.

Day 323

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. – Psalms 37:4 NIV

The Lord gives His children good gifts. When we adopt a scarcity mindset, we forget what God has already given us. He creates in us a new heart, and as our thoughts are transformed, we begin to see the abundance more clearly.

Our hearts begin to desire to do good as we become more like Jesus. He is the best role model that we can have. The Lord is not a fairy godmother who magically grants us our heart’s desire. He calls us to stay close to Him, and as we pray and trust Him day by day, our hearts are uplifted and things fall into place for us. Amen.
