Prayer Devotional: Day 74

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvellous are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well. – Psalm 139:14 KJV

The Lord created our immune systems. Years ago, we did not understand how the immune system works to protect us from diseases.

Now, with the help of modern medicine, scientific breakthroughs, and increased awareness, we know that our immune systems are miraculous gatekeepers that protect us from harm.

The Lord created us perfect, but sin brought an element of chaos to our world.

I have many food allergies, which are a result of my overactive immune system, which identifies otherwise harmless foods as hostile.

For that reason, whenever I get a booster shot or introduce something unusual to my body, I am a little concerned about how my body will react.

By the grace of God, my Pfizer-BioNTech booster shot yesterday did not give me any adverse reactions other than a sore arm. God is good! It never ceases to amaze me how He attends to our needs. Amen.

Prayer Devotional: Day 61

for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. – John 12:43 KJV

Sometimes we seek approval from other people instead of God’s approval. His opinion is the only one that counts in the grand scheme of things.

We have to be careful not to idolize other things above God’s purpose for our lives. We may not always be clear about God’s purpose for us, because He reveals it according to His divine timing, not according to our human-made schedules.

If we take time for prayer and meditation each day, His voice can override the cacophony of our thoughts. We do not need to be busy all the time. It is okay to be still and know that He is God. Amen.

Prayer Devotional: Day 46

Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” – Revelation 5:13 NIV

There will come a time when every being on earth will praise the Lord, Jesus Christ. Regardless of our religious affiliation or our cultural upbringing, the universe and everything in it will honor the Lamb on that glorious day.

Sometimes it may feel like that day will not be within our lifetimes, because noone knows the day or the hour of Jesus’s Second Coming, except for our Heavenly Father. Some people say that day will be soon, but instead of spending time trying to predict when the Second Coming will happen, we can focus on spreading the good news of salvation through Jesus. Instead of hiding our light, we can let our light and love of Jesus shine through to everyone who knows us. Amen.

Prayer Devotional: Day 32

Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. – Psalms 95:2 NIV

Thankfulness can bring much joy to our hearts. No matter how challenging a day we may have experienced, we can always find something to praise God about. Focusing on God’s goodness can restore our spirits and music and singing can uplift our moods.

The Lord knows what can bring us joy, and He delights to celebrate with us. Amen.

Day 332

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. – Psalms 100:4 NIV

The Lord asks us to praise Him and in everything give thanks, no matter how difficult the situation may seem to us at the time.

Jesus sees the big picture. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Nothing surprises Him.

When we find ourselves grumbling and complaining, we must remember how privileged we are to be the children of God. We are truly blessed, and thankfulness could become our natural state. We can remember to thank Him in every situation, because our God is greater than any problem. Amen.

Day 320

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. – Psalms 100:4 NIV

We can thank God for the happy moments that contrast the bad ones. Spending time with family can renew our spirits, especially when we feel out of energy.

Children don’t have trouble staying in the moment, a form of praise to God. They delight in socializing, running, and laughing. Those moments are precious. We can be thankful for that. Amen.

Day 211

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord. They rejoice in your name all day long; they celebrate your righteousness. – Psalms 89:15‭-‬16 NIV

We need God’s light. Without light, it is difficult to walk without stumbling.

Sometimes we create our own darkness. We allow others to disrupt our thoughts. The Lord sees us clearly and knows what is going on. He knows our thoughts. God knows our prayers even before we utter them.

His name is precious. One of the commandments is to refrain from taking the Lord’s name in vain. When we resent someone, it is tempting to call him or her a bad name, but God asks us to love, not to say words out of resentment. The Spirit of the Lord wants peace for us, and we need to be watchful of the words we say and think.

Jesus is worthy of acclaim. His actions and words are without fault. The more we think about Him, the more we become like Him and appreciate what He sacrificed for us. If we spent all day praising Him, how would our lives change? Amen.

Day 190

Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore! – 1 Chronicles 16:11 NKJV

We can call upon the Lord, and He will give us strength whenever we need it.

Our Heavenly Father is so holy that we cannot look at Him directly, but one day, after a lifetime of seeking His face, we will get to meet Him face to face. What a glorious day that will be!

We are never alone, because He is with us. He will direct us wherever we go.

The Lord gives us just enough light for the step we are on. He does not overwhelm us with all the details of the path ahead. He gives us the right amount of light to move forward.

When we stop to praise and appreciate His goodness and mercy, we can see how strong He is. Amen.

Day 161

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God. – Psalm 42:5 NIV

Change is inevitable. Sometimes the thought of change makes us sad, because we are uncertain of how we might adapt to changing circumstances.

The Lord feels it when we are downcast, and He can uplift us. When we put our hope in Him, we will never be discouraged. He is worthy of praise. He saved us, and He never would have had it any other way. Our God loves us beyond measure.

Technology allows us to connect with each other across vast distances. Our families can remain close and connected even during a pandemic. We can be grateful for the way that God brings us together. Amen.
