Prayer Journal: Day 150

Day 150

Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. – John 14:1 NIV

We can trust in Jesus. He is preparing a place for us in Heaven. The things of Earth can be troubling. There is sickness and death. We don’t always feel safe leaving our houses during the pandemic.

The Lord knows what we are going through, and He will give us strength to overcome our challenges. He can keep us safe.

When the world seems cold and dark, He is with us. He comforts and protects us. When we devote our lives to Him, our thoughts change. He can transform our thoughts.

When things seem hard, we can whisper a prayer, and Jesus will help us. Our Lord makes no mistakes. His will for us is perfect. We can trust that He will lead us to the way everlasting. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 58

The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail. – Isaiah 58:11

I live in a desert. But I don’t seem to mind that we have less water. Different vegetation grows. There is still beauty in the desert. God has a way of making even deserts beautiful.

I struggle sometimes with a scarcity mindset. When I left my day job and became a full-time entrepreneur, I didn’t imagine how hard it would be to be a full-time mom, as well. Being a parent is a full-time job in and of itself.

When you are your own boss, you are responsible for your own health insurance and your own retirement planning. It is a mindset shift, but God wants to transform and renew our minds to not focus on money or the lack thereof, but on Him and His purpose for our lives.

God knows we have financial needs, and He takes care of us, even during a pandemic. Jesus lived at a time before Roth IRAs and health insurance, yet He followed His Father’s will to the fullest. He had his priorities straight. He knows what is best for us and how to take care of us. Jesus is like the water in a garden during a drought. We can always count on Him. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 41

Day 41

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search with all your heart. – Jeremiah 29:13

I’ve been searching for God’s peace. It’s hard to find it when there are 7.75 million cases of COVID-19 in the USA. It’s hard to hear His voice when the noise in our heads is so loud that we can’t hear anything else except the negative self-talk. My relationships have sometimes become strained because I don’t share others’ opinions, especially when it comes to safety during the pandemic.

Some people want to live their lives as they always did before, but I find it hard to enjoy dinner out when everyone in the restaurants is wearing a mask, and I have to worry that if I go to the bathroom, I will touch a surface contaminated by COVID-19. Sometimes I hold it and sometimes I risk going to the bathroom, even if it might not be clean.

I can’t sleep some nights because my son is in pain from his allergies. I was terrified to take him to the doctor because COVID-19 might be at the doctor’s office.

Everything seems harder during the pandemic, more dangerous, and risky. My work burns me out sometimes. Things are not right.

God knows our hearts and can comfort our souls. He can give us rest. We just have to ask Him and trust Him.

Prayer Journal: Day 34

Day 34

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. – Psalm 4:8

I often have trouble sleeping. I am working on setting a healthier sleep routine, but sometimes I don’t rely enough on God to help me to get through whatever I am struggling with.

The feeling of being unsafe during the COVID-19 pandemic is hard to shake, but the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, and He will keep us safe.

Prayer Journal: Day 29

Day 29

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. – Psalm 91:3-4

COVID-19 is a pestilence unlike anything I have ever seen in my life. I have never experienced a pandemic before.

The Lord knows who will die and who will not. I know that our days are numbered.

Every day that we breathe is a gift from God. It is not to be squandered. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 15

Day 15

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you and you shall glorify me. – Psalm 50:15

We are living in troubled times. During this time of COVID-19 closures that began in my town on March 16, 2020, many cities are in lockdown throughout the world.

High schools are closed. Non-essential businesses are closed. Churches are closed.

Some essential businesses like the nonprofit where my husband works are not closed, but many of his employees are avoiding coming into the office and instead work directly with those they serve. The death toll in Italy has exceeded China’s. The morgues in northern Italy are full. It’s a scary time.

Jesus asks us to call upon Him when we are afraid and He will help us. I need to trust that He will always be there for us. He will never “leave you nor forsake you.” We need to meditate on His law and follow it. Amen.
