…According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love: – Ephesians 1:4 KJV
God put a lot of thought into choosing us to receive His eternal inheritance.
Time is a different experience for God than it is for us, because He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He knows what will happen even before we are born, and even before He created the world.
God’s choices are not rushed by deadlines or expirations. He chose us, and His choice counts.
We may not know a lot about what God was thinking before He created the foundation of the world, but we know one thing for sure: anyone who is saved by grace through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ can have hope for a future in Heaven without sin, death, or sorrow.
God is love, and the love we experience today is only an inkling of what God can give. Amen.
By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding He set the heavens in place; by His knowledge the watery depths were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew. – Proverbs 3:19-20 NIV
When we behold a canyon or look to the skies, we can remember God’s creative power. Nothing is impossible for God.
Sometimes I wonder if God thought and planned the way an architect does before starting a project, or if the Lord simply said, “Let there be light,” in an effortless way.
When we create things, we have to plan, but perhaps God does not need to plan. He just is. And just by being Himself, His creations turn out perfectly. His wisdom, understanding, and knowledge surpasses that of any Nobel prize winner.
When we ask God for something in prayer, we can remember the magnitude of His creative power. Not only will He give us a solution; He can bless us more than we could ask or think. Amen.

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. – 2 Timothy 3:14-15 NIV
We are so lucky to have God’s Word so readily available to us. Bibles are not accessible to everybody, nor is literacy a skill everyone has. We can be grateful because whenever we need encouragement, we can pick up the Bible and read God’s words, just like we would a greeting card from a loved one.
When I was preparing to move, I was sorting through old letters and cards and came across a card my dad had written to me. In his small, engineer’s handwriting, he signed it, “campfire in the sky…Dad.” I immediately started to cry because the last time I had read that note, he was alive.
By faith I believe that I will see my dad again in heaven. Our Heavenly Father will reunite us with our loved ones in Christ. That will be a beautiful day. We will cry tears of joy. Amen.
Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. – Psalms 63:3 NIV
Jesus loved us more than life itself. We are wired for self preservation, so a love that deep is unusual.
Do we love Jesus more than life itself? Life is full of illness and trials, but also triumphs. We can be willing to give our lives over to Jesus, who sacrificed everything to save us.
I sometimes wonder if we will remember all of the hardships we suffered during this lifetime after we get to heaven. There will be no tears, illness, or even physicians in heaven. It is hard to imagine a life without hardships, but for God, nothing is impossible. Amen.
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself. – Philippians 3:20-21 NKJV
God gives us bodies to live out our lives in, but He knows that we will experience pain, illness, and discomfort. Because our bodies are a gift, we need to take care of ourselves. We can drink more water, eat healthy foods, and exercise.
When we don’t have our health, we can appreciate all the more what God does for us when we recover.
In heaven our bodies will be perfect, just as Jesus is perfect. I’m sure we will still honor what God gives us when we get to heaven, but we won’t have to go to the doctor because we will never be ill. We will be healthy forever. Amen.
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. – 1 Peter 5:10
Perfectionism can be a difficult character trait to live with. Although perfectionists normally do good work, they often feel it is never good enough.
The only way to become perfect is through God. He perfects us. He establishes us for our purpose. He strengthens us. When we are worried, He settles us. He is a god of grace. He doesn’t let us suffer forever.
Illness and financial hardships may hit, but when God is with us, we know we are on the winning side. We’ll be with God and all our loved ones who are saved forever. Amen.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. – Luke 12:34
The world teaches us that we should seek treasure and riches, fame and fortune. The Lord knows that we need food to eat and clothing to wear. He doesn’t want us to chase after money. Money doesn’t buy happiness, and money doesn’t buy access to heaven.
It is by faith that we have been saved. God’s grace covers our sins, or else we would not be in heaven when the time comes.
The banquet that God has prepared in heaven for us is magnificent. It is beyond our imagining of what a feast could ever be. It is fancier than any 5-star restaurant that we ever had a reservation at, and it is worth waiting for. Amen.
Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” – Numbers 13:30 NIV
The Lord is a God of possibilities. He didn’t promise the children of Israel land that they could not possess. He promised them land that He knew they were meant to live in. They took a look at the people who currently lived in the land flowing with milk and honey and declared it impossible to take over. They had so little faith!
How often do we question what God has promised us? How often do we doubt the richness and joy we will have in Heaven? Do material possessions matter here on earth? The Lord knows we need things, and when it matters, He always provides for us, or He shows us what we can appreciate more about what we already have. He doesn’t ask us to manifest wealth, because He has already promised the world to us. We just have to follow Him and trust that everything will work out. Amen.
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. – 1 Peter 5:10 KJV
It is normal to expect some suffering in this life. Trials test our faith and make us stronger. God’s grace will settle in us, and everything won’t seem so hard.
The new house we moved into requires a lot of repairs. The furnace and air conditioner need to be replaced. The septic tank needed to be pumped and a plastic part had to be put back in place. It all seems a bit overwhelming. At least my little boy is recovering from his cold.
Heaven is move-in ready. Everything will be perfect, including us. Nothing will need to be replaced. We will all be made new already. What a glorious day that will be. Amen.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled that does not fade away, reserved in Heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. – 1 Peter 1:3-5 NKJV
Each one of us is a trust fund baby: we are heirs to an eternal inheritance through Jesus Christ. We are rich beyond measure!
Regardless of the trials we face in life, our Lord shows us mercy when we come to Him in prayer and trust Him.
It is our hope that we will see our loved ones who have passed away, not just in our dreams, but in Heaven on that glorious day. Salvation through faith is powerful. Amen.
