Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. – Colossians 4:2 NIV
What is a devotional? Is it something we do every day out of habit or obligation? No, devotional time with the Lord is cherished time, peaceful moments when we can thank God for the beauty around us regardless of our circumstances.
In sickness and in health, God takes care of us. He watches over us like a good shepherd. We can be thankful that even in the midst of adversity and illness, He can heal us day by day. Amen.
Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. – Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV
The Lord is a God of peace. He doesn’t want us to feel troubled by the world. Like a good shepherd, He leads us away from danger. He protects and keeps us. He gives us the equipment for success.
When we do His work, we please Him. Our other work is pleasing to Him as well, but perhaps less important. We have treasure in Heaven, each one of us who believes in Jesus. Amen.
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. – Philippians 2:5-7 NIV
We are God’s servants, so our reward is in heaven. Although success and money here on earth may seem important by the world’s standards, riches do not buy happiness. The Lord knows that we need things, and He always provides them, but the key to abundance is listening to His voice. He is the Good Shepherd. He is also the best business partner we could have, so whenever we need coaching or advice, He is there to guide us.
Although much of the Bible was passed down to us by oral tradition, God literally wrote down the ten commandments for us in stone so that we would remember them and follow them. The Lord’s laws are the gold standard for business. When we speak the truth in our businesses, our honesty will attract the right clients and students. Amen.
