Prayer Devotional: Day 3

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. – Psalms 143:8 NIV

In the quiet of the morning, we can feel God’s love. His voice is a still, quiet one. It is not necessarily in the thunder and lighting or the billowing smoke from a forest fire.

When things look hazy, God can help us see clearly. We can trust Him to show us the way that we should go. He doesn’t need a map. He never gets lost or confused. The Lord is the greatest leader we have. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 259

Day 259

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:  Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. – Philippians 2:5‭-‬7 NIV

We are God’s servants, so our reward is in heaven. Although success and money here on earth may seem important by the world’s standards, riches do not buy happiness. The Lord knows that we need things, and He always provides them, but the key to abundance is listening to His voice. He is the Good Shepherd. He is also the best business partner we could have, so whenever we need coaching or advice, He is there to guide us.

Although much of the Bible was passed down to us by oral tradition, God literally wrote down the ten commandments for us in stone so that we would remember them and follow them. The Lord’s laws are the gold standard for business. When we speak the truth in our businesses, our honesty will attract the right clients and students. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 187

Day 187

And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord . And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. – 1 Kings 19:11‭-‬12 KJV

It takes practice to recognize the Lord’s voice when He is talking to us. His still, small voice whispers to us when we don’t always expect it.

Communicating with God is not as simple as making a phone call or writing an email. Sometimes He communicates with us through the scriptures. Sometimes He talks to us during our prayer time. Sometimes He speaks to us through nature. We can train ourselves to recognize His voice by praying to Him daily, and even at every moment that we need Him.

Superman can use His hearing to detect when people are in trouble, but God doesn’t need super powers to hear us. He is always tuned in to listen to us. Why should we not go the extra mile to hear Him?

The Lord can direct us. Amen.
