Prayer Devotional: Day 83

Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always. – 1 Chronicles 16:11 NIV

On this Thanksgiving day, we can remember the Lord, and how He gave us strength to overcome everything that we face in life.

When we seek Him first, everything else falls in line.

Our families, our jobs, and our well-being are interconnected with God’s blessings. We can give thanks to Him daily. Amen.

Prayer Devotional: Day 33

Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load. – Galatians 6:4‭-‬5 NIV

The Lord knows that when we compare ourselves to others, we sometimes feel inadequate, so He asks us to focus on our own work and take pride in the work that we accomplish.

We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, so when we take pride in our work, we acknowledge that we are co-creators with God, and we can do nothing without Him. He doesn’t consider us so small that He refuses to work with us. On the contrary! The Lord encourages us to work with Him, as we ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. Our work, plus God’s finishing touches, is praiseworthy indeed. Amen.

Day 257

To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen. – Jude 1:24‭-‬25 NIV

The Lord doesn’t fault us for our weaknesses. He doesn’t accuse us of being too weak if we fall. He picks us up and tells us it will be okay.

Although He is capable of preventing us from stumbling, sometimes we stumble anyway, because the lesson we will learn from picking ourselves up is more powerful than the lesson we would have learned had we not stumbled at all.

The Lord hears our cry. He is never too busy. He is always there for us. Amen.

Day 190

Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore! – 1 Chronicles 16:11 NKJV

We can call upon the Lord, and He will give us strength whenever we need it.

Our Heavenly Father is so holy that we cannot look at Him directly, but one day, after a lifetime of seeking His face, we will get to meet Him face to face. What a glorious day that will be!

We are never alone, because He is with us. He will direct us wherever we go.

The Lord gives us just enough light for the step we are on. He does not overwhelm us with all the details of the path ahead. He gives us the right amount of light to move forward.

When we stop to praise and appreciate His goodness and mercy, we can see how strong He is. Amen.

Day 111

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Matthew 6:33-34 NIV

God answers prayers! When His answer is, “yes,” sometimes we are surprised, because we are so worried that the worst case scenario will play out anyway, we expect bad news.

When good news comes to us, we can rejoice in the Lord’s blessings and enduring mercy.

I spoke to my friend who had COVID-19. He is doing much better and is out of the hospital. I was so worried, but the Lord restored and strengthened him, just as all of us praying for him had asked. Hearing my friend’s voice encouraged me and reminded me how powerful our living God is. He is good. Amen.
