Prayer Journal: Day 125

Day 125

I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. – John 15:1-2

God gives us the opportunity to start new.

I am not much of a gardener, but my husband “has a green thumb”. With his help, I replaced the apple tree seedling that died after I had forgotten to water it during my COVID-19 recovery. Now, with love, water, and a team effort, our new apple tree seedling is thriving.

Our Lord is good at gardening, in that He nurtures us and helps us to grow.

Sometimes the pruning process can be difficult for us when we resist letting go of thoughts that stunt us from growing. Our Lord knows better. He has the recipe for a fruitful life for us. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 109

Day 109

Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. – Isaiah 30:20 NIV

Even though this year has been difficult for many, the Lord has taught us hard lessons that we are better off knowing. He has taught us forgiveness. He has humbled us during times of illness. He has taught us to rely on Him, during prosperity and during adversity.

We don’t always like to hear these lessons. We would like everything to work out our way, but it doesn’t always go according to plan.

When we surrender to God’s plans, we learn that a brighter future is possible. We learn to trust in Him always. Amen.
