Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” – Isaiah 30:21 NIV
The Lord is our safety net. He protects us during difficult times.
A wildfire came close to my mom’s house. She had to evacuate. During times of crisis, it is natural to pray and ask God for protection.
He protected her house years ago from a wildfire that came close to the back fence. There was some smoke damage, but the house was saved. The firefighters were like angels.
A wildfire was 12 miles away from my house as well last night, but the wind blew in the other direction. By morning the snow had put out the fire and God’s grace was evident. He is in control and everything happens for a reason.
Even people who have lost their homes to fires have come away from the experience with resilience.
God gives strength during hard times. He is always working in the background even when we are sleeping. Amen.
Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him! – Isaiah 30:18 NIV
We sometimes have a hard time accepting God’s grace. We try to do it all on our own, and when we fail and become exhausted, the Lord gently reminds us that He was there all along offering us His hand to help. He can make things easier for us. We don’t have to strive all the time.
It is a lesson in surrender. Sometimes He simply asks us to be still–to meditate on Him. His works are glorious and we can appreciate Him better when we stop to breathe.
Our God is a God of justice. We can appreciate what He has made right in our lives. Amen.
