Prayer Journal: Day 190

Day 190

Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore! – 1 Chronicles 16:11 NKJV

We can call upon the Lord, and He will give us strength whenever we need it.

Our Heavenly Father is so holy that we cannot look at Him directly, but one day, after a lifetime of seeking His face, we will get to meet Him face to face. What a glorious day that will be!

We are never alone, because He is with us. He will direct us wherever we go.

The Lord gives us just enough light for the step we are on. He does not overwhelm us with all the details of the path ahead. He gives us the right amount of light to move forward.

When we stop to praise and appreciate His goodness and mercy, we can see how strong He is. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 187

Day 187

And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord . And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. – 1 Kings 19:11‭-‬12 KJV

It takes practice to recognize the Lord’s voice when He is talking to us. His still, small voice whispers to us when we don’t always expect it.

Communicating with God is not as simple as making a phone call or writing an email. Sometimes He communicates with us through the scriptures. Sometimes He talks to us during our prayer time. Sometimes He speaks to us through nature. We can train ourselves to recognize His voice by praying to Him daily, and even at every moment that we need Him.

Superman can use His hearing to detect when people are in trouble, but God doesn’t need super powers to hear us. He is always tuned in to listen to us. Why should we not go the extra mile to hear Him?

The Lord can direct us. Amen.

Day 183

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. – Psalm 119:105 NKJV

When we are in darkness, we can’t see clearly where we should go.

I visited a cave, and the tour guide shut off the lights for a moment to show us how dark it was. It was so dark and cold that I could almost feel the humidity in the air. When the lights came back on, we could easily navigate out of the cave.

The Lord wants us to direct us. He seeks out ways to illuminate our path.

When we don’t see what He is trying to demonstrate to us, He tries another way, because He doesn’t give up trying to get our attention. The Lord knows where we should go, and He can direct us completely. We have no reason to fear. Amen.

Day 166

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. – Psalm 37:4 NKJV

When we delight in the Lord, things work out for us. Our desires even change. Our hearts change. We are transformed.

The Lord cares about every detail of our lives. He can make positive changes in our lives, changes that we never would have thought possible. We can trust His plans, because He always leads us in the right direction.

Change can be uncomfortable for us because we don’t always know what to expect. Even through we know that God is with us, sometimes we forget to call upon Him. When we call upon Him in need, we can be glad that we did. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 160

Day 160

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say this–those He redeemed from the hand of the foe, those He gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south. – Psalm 107:1-2 NIV

We can be thankful that the Lord redeemed us. His love never ends. He saved us from every possible danger, from every single direction imaginable.

The Lord saves us from distress. He hears us. He cares about us.

He knows our path, the right path for us. When we are uncertain, He is certain. When we are afraid, He is courageous. He strengthens us. When we are weak, we can appreciate the strength He gives us even more. His love endures forever. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 155

Day 155

With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him. – Psalm 18:29-30 NIV

At times it feels like we are facing an uphill battle. We are rowing against the current, but with God’s help, we can overcome any obstacle that we encounter. He, alone, knows where we should go. He reveals to us our direction when the time is right.

We need to wait, patiently.

God’s way is perfect. There is no possibility of Him making a mistake. He knows what is best for us.

He shields us during the spiritual warfare that can arise from time to time. We can take refuge in His comforting words. Amen.

Day 150

Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. – John 14:1 NIV

We can trust in Jesus. He is preparing a place for us in Heaven. The things of Earth can be troubling. There is sickness and death. We don’t always feel safe leaving our houses during the pandemic.

The Lord knows what we are going through, and He will give us strength to overcome our challenges. He can keep us safe.

When the world seems cold and dark, He is with us. He comforts and protects us. When we devote our lives to Him, our thoughts change. He can transform our thoughts.

When things seem hard, we can whisper a prayer, and Jesus will help us. Our Lord makes no mistakes. His will for us is perfect. We can trust that He will lead us to the way everlasting. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 132

Day 132

The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. – Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV

It’s comforting to know that wherever we go, God Himself goes ahead of us to scope out any danger and to protect us. We don’t need to be afraid, even if we feel like we are stepping into unknown territory.

The Lord can prepare us for anything. We are never alone because God is with us, and we can tune into His voice while we mute the noise from the rest of the world.

The Lord reminds us that we don’t need to be discouraged for long if something in our lives is not moving at the pace that we want. At times the gears in our heads seem to turn slowly, but God’s thinking is clear, and we can rely on Him. Amen.
