Prayer Devotional: Day 80

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” – Psalms 91:2 NIV

We get into trouble when we try to please other people over God. The approval of God is the only thing that matters at the end of the day.

It is easy to take things personally when we interact with other people, but with God, we don’t have to worry about Him saying or doing the wrong thing or trying to control us. The Lord gives us a choice. He protects us, but He doesn’t control us. We can trust Him completely. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 181

Day 181

Nevertheless I am continually with you; You hold me by my right hand. – Psalm 73:23 NKJV

There is something very sweet and innocent about holding the hand of a child. Holding hands is for protection and guidance of the child, but it is about comfort as well.

We need God’s love, comfort, and protection. In many ways, if we could just trust Jesus the way our children trust us, we would save ourselves a lot of worry.

God is there for us. He is with us continually, day and night, even when we are asleep. He cares for us.

He keeps us from falling. He guides us away from danger.

When we try to rely on our own strength, we realize very quickly that listening to God is much better than self reliance because God is infinitely better at helping us and guiding us than we are. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 154

Day 154

The Lord is my strength and shield; my heart trusts Him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy, and I will give thanks to Him in song. – Psalm 28:7 NIV

When the Lord gives us strength, we can overcome the hardships that life throws at us. His strength acts like a shield to protect us from harm.

When bad things happen, such as illness, we can better appreciate our health when the Lord restores us.

When we trust Him with all our heart, mind, and spirit, we can find joy in the works that He has helped us to accomplish. All good things come from the Lord.

When He restores us to good health, doesn’t that make us feel like singing? Our Lord is worthy of praise. Amen.
