And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. – 1 John 4:16 NIV
God is not only a loving God; He is the embodiment of love. When we become more like Jesus, love permeates every fiber of our being. Instead of asking God to grant a long list of things that we need from Him, we can ask Him what we can do to serve Him and show His love better.
In a world that encourages us to attract more wealth to ourselves, refocusing our attention on Jesus takes a paradigm shift.
We are not reflecting God’s love if we spend too much time noticing the flaws in others. God is the judge, and there is no reason why we would need to take that job from Him. The Lord is entirely qualified to judge the world fairly. We can divert our energies elsewhere.
When we live in love, we become more patient and kind and less critical. Amen.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. – Psalm 37:7 NKJV
In the past I have witnessed people who were unethical prosper. They were out for their own gain and they did not care how many shortcuts they took to get more money or whom they exploited to get there. The Lord says that evil people will be “cut off.” They may seem like they get away with anything, but it won’t always be that way.
The Lord is a just God, and He is the ultimate judge.
We have to be careful that in remembering the past wrongs that other people did to us, we don’t fall into resentment. The past is the past, and we learned from our mistakes. We know not to trust those unethical people again. Amen.
