When I was walking the other day, I came across a piece of sidewalk that had a leaf imprint on it. The leaf almost looked like it was drawn onto the cement, but most likely the leaf fell onto the wet cement and left its mark.
When we reflect the character of Jesus in our actions and words, we are only a reflection, and our deeds pale in comparison to the real thing.
None of us can earn our way into heaven, and we are fortunate that we are saved by grace. As we learn to know and love God better, the more we want to emulate His character. It is a voluntary transformation, but well worth the effort. We experience more peace and less anger when we focus on God. Amen.
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. – Matthew 6:14 NIV
Sometimes we are in a funk. We feel down and we recall old resentments and wrongs. When that happens, we can remind ourselves that the devil puts those thoughts into our heads, and we can ask God to remove them.
The fruit of the spirit is not resentment or anger. It is love. When we forgive and move forward in love, we can start to feel a little better. We can put on some happy music and move a little till our bad move lifts. Amen.
