Prayer Devotional: Day 73

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. – Psalm 56:3 KJV

I am scheduled to get my COVID-19 Pfizer-BioNTech booster shot today, and I must admit, I am a little afraid that I will react to it.

The Lord knows our fears and settles them. We can trust in Him to get us through whatever we are facing.

It is a privilege to be able to get a booster shot and that medical science, with God’s help of course, has allowed booster shots to become available. I am happy that I can access one.

Even though we may not understand why the pandemic had to happen, God saves us and comforts us during tough times. Amen.

Prayer Devotional: Day 51

“If you love me, keep my commands.” – John 14:15 NIV

God’s love for us goes beyond our comprehension. Jesus loves us and died for us so that we might live.

There is nothing that we can do to equal that sacrifice, but we can live with a grateful heart. When we express our gratitude by following God’s law, it’s not out of obligation. We don’t have to follow His commandments; we follow His law because the more we love like Jesus, the more our desires change.

Instead of being critical of others, when we love like Jesus, our relationships improve.

The ten commandments benefit us. They are not a set of arbitrary rules that God gave us.

When we honor our fathers and mothers, our lives are happier and longer. The Lord is pleased when we love Him so much that we desire to love the way He does, a little more each day.

Although we can never earn our way into heaven, we can love the Lord with all our hearts, minds, and souls.

We want to be like Him, not because we fear consequences, but because we appreciate that He died for us, no matter what. He loves us more than anything else in the world. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 326

Day 326

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. – 1 Peter 1:3 NKJV

In this life we will have trouble, but the Lord asks us not to be afraid. He has overcome the world, and gives us salvation through Jesus Christ. If we think our problems are too big, we can remind ourselves that God is more powerful than anything causing our problems.

He can give us strength to endure any hardship, be it illness, job changes, or a move. The Lord gives us the Holy Spirit to be our Counselor and Helper. He will never leave us nor forsake us, no matter what we may be going through. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 133

Day 133

When I am afraid, I will trust in you. – Psalm 56:3 NIV

I received a message from my sister yesterday that our mother had fallen in her yard and hit her head. My sister texted me from the Emergency Room that they were waiting on CT results.

The news hit me like a lightning bolt through the heart. I could feel fear creeping in, but I immediately began to pray, asking Jesus to help. I sent an email to my church family and asked them to pray as well.

God answers our prayers, and He does so quickly sometimes! I received a call from my sister and talked to my mom. My mom has a bump on her head, but the CT came back normal and there was no internal bleeding. She was at my sister’s house, and the doctor had recommended that she be woken up every two hours. She would not be able to drive or stay home by herself for a while, but God answered our prayers, and she is okay. God is good! Amen.
