“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
The burden of working from home while raising a toddler is heavy. It sometimes feels like one full-time job on top of another, especially if the toddler skips his nap.
Why would Jesus say He can give us rest by trading our heavier burden with His light one? Why wouldn’t He lift the burden entirely so we could rest without having to lift anything?
Jesus knows that after we rest, we will be rejuvenated and can work again. His work, sharing the gospel, is hardly work at all. Amen.
And he said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” – Luke 18:27 KJV

When we find something that is lacking in our lives, it is not because God won’t provide it to us. To some extent, we may be resisting it, even though we want it. The Lord does not withhold good things from His children. He wants the best for us. He sacrificed His only begotten son so that we could live.
The Lord knows our needs even before we come to Him in prayer. His timing is perfect.
Our web of emotions and memories sometimes prevents us from realizing what God sees is possible for us. He knows our future. He can lead us with unwavering confidence to the path everlasting.
When we follow Him and surrender our burdens to Him, the weight on our shoulders becomes lighter. Amen.
