Prayer Journal: Day 249

Day 249

This is what the Lord says— He who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you: Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. – Isaiah 44:2‭-‬3 NIV

A 3-dimensional ultrasound shows incredible details. I remember how astounded I was when I saw my baby’s face for the first time in his ultrasound images. I could almost imagine God forming him. How amazing is our God!

The Lord can pour out His Spirit and bless us beyond imagination.

There is no end to the water of life that God can provide. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 248

Day 248

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” – Matthew 17:20 NIV

When we turn every aspect of our lives over to Jesus, we won’t be sorry. A little bit of faith goes a long way.

Jesus gave us salvation for free. It was free for us, yet He paid a great cost. It makes us wonder why some people might want to return a free gift. Is that gift really no use to them or are they not able to see the great value in it? They have little faith because they can only see their limitations instead of God’s infinite possibilities.

The Lord can direct us how to respond. Although we may want to react right away, the best thing is to pause and ask our best business partner, Jesus, for His advice. If we listen to His divine wisdom instead of making assumptions, we will always come out of the situation okay. Amen.

Day 247

Thou tellest my wanderings: Put thou my tears into thy bottle: Are they not in thy book? – Psalm 56:8 KJV

When we have a cold, it can feel miserable. The Lord knows every tear that we shed. He knows how to comfort us. He is the Great Physician.

The Lord can see everything that goes on. Nothing surprises Him. So when we come to Him with our needs, He has already anticipated them. He can heal us quickly.

Illness passes and is only a temporary discomfort. The Lord wants us to regain our health, because He has important work for us to do. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 246

Day 246

As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friends. – Proverbs 27:17 NKJV

Our friends help us and put us at ease when we need them. We can encourage each other.

Not all friends remain close, but God always stays close to us and provides the right people to help us when we need.

We don’t always have good health, so when our health suffers, our friends can step in. It might be watching our toddler or accompanying us to the grocery store.

These types of friends are invaluable. It’s up to us to reach out to them if they become distant, because God loves them, too. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 245

Day 245

‘ “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.” ’ – Numbers 6:24‭-‬26 NIV

The Lord includes us in His blessings. He does not leave us out. He never forgets about us. When His face shines on us, we are uplifted. We can feel His healing presence.

The Lord’s peace is unlike any other. He mends broken relationships. He helps us forgive and love one another. He creates harmony where there is discord. His grace saves us.

We do not need to work hard to earn His love. He chose us and will never leave us or forsake us. He blesses our work, and if we follow Him, we will be successful. When we seek Him first, all the rest will follow. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 244

Day 244

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. – 2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV

We are creatures of habit. Many of our thoughts are similar to the thoughts we had yesterday. To transform our thoughts from negative to positive, we need the Holy Spirit to transform our minds.

When we spend time worshipping with other believers, we start to change our thoughts. When we study and focus on God’s Word, we shift from trying to merely figure out how to manifest more money to discovering how God would like us to serve others in a bigger way. Monetary rewards are not the only type of wealth, because in Heaven there will be no need for money or fame. The glory of God satisfies our souls and gives us a purpose. The work of spreading God’s love is one of the most important things we can do. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 243

Day 243

Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise Him. – Psalms 33:1 NIV

In the early morning, it is quiet, but still enough to hear God’s voice without the regular distractions of our day. The TV is not on. The cell phones are still in airplane mode or off. We can open our Bibles, read our devotionals, and connect with our Savior.

He can guide every aspect of our lives: our health, our finances, and our happiness.

Beauty comes not just from outer appearances, but from loving the Lord and leading a righteous life, because we seek Him first. All the rest will follow. We don’t need to make elaborate plans and vision statements, because the Lord already has a vision for us. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 242

Day 242

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them. – Psalms 145:18‭-‬19 NIV

The Lord can hear when a toddler falls down and cries. He sends extra angels to protect our little ones from harm. There is nobody too small for Him to care about. He loves all of us.

When we call upon the Lord, He answers. He doesn’t always give us the answer that we were expecting, but He gives us the best answer.

Fear of the Lord starts with love. Because we love Him, we obey His laws. Not because we have to, but because we want to. We love Him, and we nurture that relationship by reading His Word and following it. When our desires align with Him, we are blessed.

The Lord is a God of truth. He never deceives us. He always leads us in the everlasting way. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 241

Day 241

Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. – John 12:24 NIV

Jesus spoke to people in parables because He knew that if He used storytelling to illustrate His points, people would relate to the message.

People never expected to receive a savior who would die for their sins. They were expecting a king. Instead, Jesus came to them in a humble state.

A plant, when it buds, has a lot of potential. We don’t always see it blossom because a snow or freeze might come before it has a chance to bloom.

Jesus gently and carefully nurtures our faith as we grow. As we gain strength, we can share His love with more confidence. Amen.

Prayer Journal: Day 240

Day 240

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. – Ephesians 4:2 NIV

It is easy to lose our patience, especially with a toddler. It takes extra effort and prayer to protect our little ones. Their brains are still developing so they can’t reason the same way an adult does.

The Lord knows what we need. He knows what we want and the difference between our wants and needs. He never gives us more than we can bear.

Gentleness comes from being in a grounded and restful place. It is not so easy when an energetic toddler is running around. We have to be grateful for the opportunities we have to rest. Amen.
