Prayer Reflection: Day 23

Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. – Luke 12:40 NKJV

My contractor and his team member were waiting outside of the gate to my house this morning to finish the bathroom vanity project they were working on.

Even though I was expecting them to arrive between 8 and 9am, I still was in my pj’s when I had to open the gate. Nevertheless, the project turned out beautifully, even though I wasn’t dressed beautifully initially.

The Lord’s Second Coming will be at an hour that we don’t expect.

When I was a child, I was terrified when I heard that Jesus was coming again to judge the world and that everything I ever did wrong would be recorded in a book.

Now that I am an adult, I understand that it’s by grace we have been saved; it is not of ourselves. We can try with all our might to be good, but God’s love and mercy ultimately save us. It’s because of our deep love and thankfulness for the sacrifice that Jesus made for us that we are able to do good works and try to emulate His character as much as possible. Loving Him changes us.

Our lives may not be perfect, but one day, if we are faithful enough, we will see His face and it will be a happy ending to quite the dramatic story. Amen.
