There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. – 1 John 4:18 NKJV
Jesus withstood false accusations and threats against His life by the very “chosen” people whom He came to save.
How painful it must have been for Him to be threatened by the very people He loved so much that He sweated blood to save them.
During hard times, I ask myself, “What would Jesus do?”
There should be no fear in love.
Jesus, in His infinite patience, said nothing when the Pharisees put Him on trial. Even the judge could see that Jesus had done nothing wrong, but for fear of the people, he sentenced Jesus to death.
Sometimes I wonder why it took Jesus’s death on the cross to pardon humanity’s sins. Would it have had the same impact if God had sacrificed something of no value to Him?
God loves us so much that He sacrificed the most precious person to Him imaginable. We are lucky to have a Heavenly Father who cares about us so much that He was willing to sacrifice His only Son. I wonder if God cried on that day.
On a lighter note, I have a mood ring that supposedly reflects when I am feeling fear or love. Who knows if it is accurate, but it gives me a sense of mindfulness when I am observing my emotions.
God is the embodiment of love, and at the end of the day, loves prevails over fear. Amen.
