Many seek the ruler’s favour; But every man’s judgment cometh from the LORD. – Proverbs 29:26 KJV
September 25th is my 7th wedding anniversary with my husband, Steve Decker.
Normally we buy each other small anniversary gifts, but this year we traded in my Hundai Venue for a Hybrid Jeep Wrangler, which was partly because I wanted a hybrid electric car because gas is a non-renewable resource, and partly because my husband wanted the tax credit and a new commuter car that could handle the snow and the dirt road that leads to our house.
Perhaps it would appear that we’re trying to keep up with the Joneses, but that really wasn’t my intention.
Because my husband has a good job helping the homeless population in New Mexico, we were able to afford the Jeep. We would not have been able to afford it on my income alone, but we are a team and have worked hard to provide a nice home for our family. God has blessed us with a home, which is something that many of those my husband’s organization serves do not have. We are lucky to have a home and vehicles to drive.
Whenever I am tempted to complain about something, I remember that God has provided for all our essential needs, and everything else is extra. Amen.
