Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? – Matthew 6:25 NKJV
I have had severe food allergies and sensitivities since I was 16 years old. Over the years I have sought holistic medicine solutions, because traditional allergists told me to avoid eating the things that I am allergic to; easier said than done when soy and nuts are in so many foods. One of my allergists told me to just “eat cabbage.” Funny!
I worry about what I eat, because if I don’t eat right, I have energy crashes. God supplies me with the energy that I have, and for that I am grateful. Nevertheless I really wish I had more energy, especially when I am trying to keep up with my highly energetic 4-year-old boy.
God knows our strengths and weaknesses. He knows about every cookie that I stuff into my mouth, too!
This past weekend I enjoyed an eggplant sandwich, but still crashed afterwards because it probably had too many carbs.
Perhaps if we give our dieting burdens to God, we will be less likely to fall into temptation of not taking care of our bodies, the temples that God has given us. Amen.
