In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. – Philippians 2:5-7 NIV
Keeping a humble mindset like Christ’s can be challenging.
When we have spent a good amount of our lives educating and bettering ourselves, we can even resent that we haven’t achieved more than we have already.
Jesus humbled Himself so much that He was willing to become an ordinary human. But even in human form, Jesus had extraordinary power to do the will of His Father in Heaven. Not everyone can perform miracles, yet Jesus didn’t brag about what He could do. He could have overthrown the Roman empire if He wanted, but He didn’t.
No matter what, Jesus knew who He was and what He was meant to do. He didn’t need royal celebrations, wealth, or military might to save us. He never veered off of the Main Street of God’s purpose for Him. Amen.
