Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. – Matthew
Grandma Decker, my husband’s mother, passed away early this morning on June 2, 2022.
She always made time for family. Even though it took more than a day’s worth of travel from Idaho Falls, Grandma Decker attended my son’s baby blessing.
She hosted countless Decker Family July 4th celebrations and family get-together events at her house in Idaho Falls, the same house that her husband built from the ground up. Photos of each one of her grandkids were proudly displayed on her living room wall.
Even with nine children and 33 grandchildren, she never forgot a single birthday. She enjoyed treating her grandkids to family outings at Bear World, and chuckled as little bear cubs wrestled playfully. She savored Reed’s Dairy ice cream many a time with my husband, son, and me.
I remember at one of the Decker Thanksgivings, she kindly asked me if I had gotten enough to eat. She went out of her way to make me feel comfortable in our large family.
Words can’t explain how much our Decker matriarch meant to all of us in our family.
One of the most beautiful Bible promises assures us that we will see Jesus and many of our loved ones in heaven. This world is not our final home.
May we meet again in heaven, Grandma Decker. Amen.
