Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. – Hebrews 4:16 NKJV
My family and I are fans of Star Trek, and the intro of The Next Generation is known by many English majors such as myself for the grammatically incorrect split infinitive: “to boldly go.” The correct way to say it is “to go boldly.”
I imagine that it would feel intimidating to approach a prince’s throne, yet Jesus invites us to come right up. Jesus offers grace and mercy to all of us.
Why would He help us? Humanity is not exactly known for its redeeming qualities. Yet God loves us so much that He sent His only son to redeem us. That’s quite a gift! We can be thankful for His love every day. Amen.
