Prayer Devotional: Day 233

“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” – Matthew 18:19‭-‬20 NKJV

The other night, before bedtime, my husband asked our three-year-old son who he would like to say the prayer.

Not really paying attention to my toddler’s response, I said a prayer, only to realize he was fussing about something.

My husband figured out my toddler’s complaint: my son wanted Dad to say the prayer, not Mom.

So, we said another prayer, this time by my husband. He mentioned in the prayer for our toddler to understand that more than one person can say a prayer to God.

God hears all our prayers, no matter whether they come from ourselves, our loved ones, or even people we don’t know.

When we take time to pray earnestly for our family and friends, God pays attention.

The question is, are we paying attention when we pray? Or could we pray more consciously?

Sometimes we pray by rote, but God wants to pray constantly, and never give up. His patience for us is incredible.

After we offer up our prayers, we can pause and thank Him for already answering. We can stop worrying because He hears us and responds. He has everything under control. He is working, even when we are sleeping. Amen.
