And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. – 2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV
As a COVID-19 Long Hauler, I can relate to infirmities. I was first diagnosed with COVID-19 in September 2020, and I have experienced fatigue ever since.
What does it mean that God’s strength is made perfect in our weaknesses?
God doesn’t rub it in when we don’t feel well, and when we realize that we can’t do everything on our own, we are more willing to accept His strength. When we solely rely on our strength, we miss out on the blessings that God teaches us when we are ill.
Illness slows us down, but it also forces us to be still. It’s in that stillness when we can hear the Holy Spirit sometimes. The Holy Spirit may impress upon us to love more and judge less. Or He may simply give us a sense of peace and ease. Either way, the time is never wasted. Amen.
