And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. – Romans 5:3-5 NKJV
Today I have had to take some sick leave because I don’t feel very well. I have caught my son’s cold, and although he feels better, I don’t.
Sometimes I remind myself not to over-dramatize my illness. I am not dying. I am not hospitalized. I am not even sick enough to warrant going to the doctor.
I’m annoyed that I have to slow down, but by doing so, God is teaching me patience.
Am I building character? Yes. Do I hope to get better? Yes.
I have to remind myself: no complaining.
Jesus’s love for us overflows, even when we are ill. Amen.
