And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.” – Mark 14:36 NKJV
Jesus revered His Heavenly Father, so much so that He gave up His own life to follow His Father’s will.
What strength! I imagine Jesus must have felt anxious, never having experienced the pain He was about to experience on the Cross.
Not only was He innocent, but also He was treated like a criminal and died a prisoner’s death.
The weight of all humanity’s sins, illnesses, and hate fell on Jesus’s shoulders. It must have been excruciating.
Sometimes I wonder if God could have sacrificed something less precious to save humanity, but is a sacrifice really a sacrifice if it has little worth to the owner? God loves us more than life itself. We are of great value to Him.
On this day that Jesus rested in his tomb, let us remember the price He paid for us and say, “thank you.” Amen.
