Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments. – Deuteronomy 7:9 NIV
I don’t know if I really understood the meaning of generational love until I had my son.
It’s so precious to see my toddler sitting on his dad’s lap. They are content being together.
When we love God, we keep His commandments, not because we are trying to get into heaven by works, for we know that we are saved by grace, but because we love Jesus, we choose to follow the things of this world less. We can decide to choose Jesus every day. When deeds don’t display love and respect for others, something is off.
I tell my son that hitting his friends is not okay. He told me that they’re not his friends, and I replied that it’s still not okay to hit those who are not our friends. We must love one another as Christ loved us. Amen.
