Prayer Devotional: Day 139

I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” – Genesis 28:15 NIV

The Lord sometimes brings us to a land we are not familiar with. We have to take a leap of faith and trust Him. He promises good things if we seek Him first.

As I signed the closing papers for the home that I am buying in Tijeras, New Mexico, I don’t know if I would have chosen to live on a property that had almost 10 acres.

I would have no way of maintaining such a property without my husband, and the maintenance that the home will require will be substantial. Replacing the carpet with hard flooring and painting the walls are just the tip of the iceberg of the work that will need to be done.

My stomach was upset after eating fast food before I headed to the title company. I have to take responsibility for my own well being and make healthier choices, which means I need to plan meals ahead.

Health has always been a problem for me because I tend to put other people’s needs and wants ahead of mine, but at some point, I have to set a boundary and say “NO” to fast food and stop letting other people make choices for me.

My poor health made what could have been a good day sour. I take some comfort that the Lord won’t just leave me because I moved to another state. He is still watching over me, asking me to make better decisions. Amen.
