Prayer Devotional: Day 138

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. – Hebrews 4:15 KJV

Over a year now, I have noticed energy crashes due to COVID-19 Long Haulers.

During packing, moving, and cleaning, which are all relatively high-energy activities required for moving to another state, I have been able to manage my energy well, except for last night.

I crashed right about the time I was supposed to eat dinner with my husband and son at a restaurant, which meant that I had to go back to the truck and wait while my husband got the food to go. Once back at the hotel, I didn’t even have enough energy to eat the salad I had ordered. I didn’t have enough energy to deal with my toddler’s tantrum before bedtime. I found the whole experience frustrating and disconcerting, because I thought that I was done with long hauler energy crashes.

The Lord sympathizes with our weaknesses and infirmities. He gives us strength, especially when we are weak. He revitalizes our energy and directs us to better self-care habits if we have been neglecting our healthy routines. He reminds us who is ultimately in control. We need these reminders, or we begin to think we can do everything by ourselves. To the contrary: we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Amen.
