Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” – Nehemiah 8:10 NKJV
One of the last things I do before I move is empty the fridge and pantry to give away anything that is still good.
By the grace of God, Sister Missionaries and Elders showed up to help my husband and I pack the last of our things before the movers come tomorrow to load everything to be ready to go to New Mexico. I was expecting four people to come and help with packing, but a whole group of missionaries came to help, and many hands made for light work. They were amazing! One of the sisters even looked after my toddler while the packing was taking place so that my little boy wouldn’t get in the way.
I gave any extra food, canned goods, and frozen food from the fridge as a thank you gift to my neighbor, who let my son play at her house for the rest of the afternoon so her two sons could have a play date before we moved.
At the end of our busy day, we enjoyed some chocolate cream from our freezer. Reed’s Dairy makes world-famous ice cream, and only in Idaho, so after I move to New Mexico, I won’t have Reed’s Dairy ice cream as readily available. I enjoyed my fattening dessert and closed the day with a grateful heart. Amen.
