Prayer Devotional: Day 133

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. – Colossians 3:1 NKJV

Sorting through old papers can unearth a lot of memories, both good and bad.

During the process of my move, we were running out of boxes, so I had to go through the papers in my office and decide what to keep and what to shred or put in the trash.

As I sifted through my papers, I found my dad’s death certificate. I scanned it to my phone and filed it in the cloud so that I could reference it in the future if needed.

Seeing the death certificate brought up some unsettling emotions, such as the turmoil my family went through when considering to file a separation of assets so that in taking care of my dad’s final medical needs due to his Alzheimer’s disease, my mom would not be bankrupt during the process. My dad had passed away before the separation of assets was final, relieving us of the legal process. A kind woman from our church covered our lawyer’s bill for the separation of asset paperwork.

Jesus covers our sins. Our sins are washed away, white as snow. He made it possible for us to look forward to the things above, and appreciate our eternal inheritance in heaven. What a glorious God we have! Amen.
