The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” – Matthew 21:6-9 NIV
Jesus was humble even when He was being exalted. To enter Jerusalem on a donkey, that must have been humbling.
It must have felt good when people acknowledged Him by setting down their cloaks before Him. It is courteous to set a clean path before someone. Many a time Jesus was not recognized for His good works, but He never sought the approval of men. He knew who He was. He would have done His Father’s works whether anyone noticed or not. He had the confidence of a king.
The Lord deserves our attention and adoration. He is worthy of praise. Amen.
