The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts have good understanding. To Him belongs eternal praise. – Psalms 111:10 NIV
What does it mean to fear the Lord? Does it mean that if we don’t follow His laws we will be squashed like bugs? Certainly not. The Lord is a mighty, powerful God, so when we respect and reverence Him, we simply begin to understand how significant it is to have a relationship with our Heavenly Father. Salvation is possible through Jesus, and we can offer Him our utmost respect.
We are not wise in our own ways. Wisdom comes from God.
The Lord grieves when we forget to listen to the words He speaks to us. It saddens Him when we don’t try our best to follow His example to love and forgive one another.
Although we are saved through faith and not by works, God enlightens our understanding the more we study His word, pray, and follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance. We love His precepts because each one deepens our relationship with Him and makes us want to be more like Him. His commandments are not just a list of do’s and don’ts. They are to teach us how to live by faith. He is worthy of our praise. He blesses us with abundance beyond measure. Amen.
