And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord . And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. – 1 Kings 19:11-12 KJV
It takes practice to recognize the Lord’s voice when He is talking to us. His still, small voice whispers to us when we don’t always expect it.
Communicating with God is not as simple as making a phone call or writing an email. Sometimes He communicates with us through the scriptures. Sometimes He talks to us during our prayer time. Sometimes He speaks to us through nature. We can train ourselves to recognize His voice by praying to Him daily, and even at every moment that we need Him.
Superman can use His hearing to detect when people are in trouble, but God doesn’t need super powers to hear us. He is always tuned in to listen to us. Why should we not go the extra mile to hear Him?
The Lord can direct us. Amen.
